Very Narrow Aisle Pallet Rack System for High-Density Storage

Very narrow aisle pallet rack system, commonly abbreviated to the VNA pallet rack system, is a FIFO(first in, first out) high-density storage system with 100% selectivity, which is best suited for warehouses with high mix, high volume SKUs.

Specifically speaking, it is an adaptation of the conventional selective pallet rack system, but built comparatively taller to provide more storage space. As its name suggests, working aisles are narrowed up to 1.5 meters to save up to 40% space for storage, increasing the capacity of warehouse without expanding floor area.

With such narrow aisles, common counterbalance forklifts are not suitable to work in the VNA pallet rack system. It requires a specific material handling equipment called a trilateral turret truck whose mast is able to rotate independently towards either left or right as required so as to access pallets without turning its body.

• 100% selectivity: Similar to selective pallet racks, each row of racks in VNA pallet racking system adjoins to a working aisle, making every pallet cargo completely accessible.

• FIFO inventory rotation direction: The first stored pallet will also be the first one to be taken out, ensuring prompt and efficient inventory rotation, which is extremely important for time-sensitive products.

• High-density storage: It provides a substantial increase in storage volume by taking full advantage of both floor space and vertical space. Working aisles are designed narrow and racks are built tall in an effort to conserve more space for storage.

• Cost-effective: VNA pallet racks make use of headroom as much as possible, which means you can store more pallets in one-floor space area, therefore reducing the cost of per stored pallet.

• Good adaptability: It is simple to assemble, disassemble, and re-adapt load levels to adapt to changes in storage needs. Besides, it is compatible with all kinds of accessories.

Tips for Very Narrow Aisle Pallet Rack System

• It combines the advantages of conventional selective pallet racks and high-density pallet racks. Without sacrificing selectivity, storage density is greatly improved in VNA pallet racks, which are ideal for non-homogeneous products requiring high rotation.

• For tall warehouses in which space is at a premium but storage demand is large, the VNA pallet rack system is a good choice. It exploits all available space within your facility by making practical use of both floor area and height clearance.

• It can reach up to 17 meters high, so VNA racks must be installed on a concrete floor that is perfectly flat. In addition, it is a must to equip with physical steel guide rails or electromagnetic guide rails to assist forklift operators in narrow aisles.

• Trilateral turret truck is more expensive than a common counterbalance forklift and its requirements for the operator is also stricter since it will be used in narrower aisles.
